ORDINANCE NO. 551 AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF OCEAN RIDGE, FLORIDA, EXEMPTING ITSELF FROM THE PROVISIONS OF SECTION 101.657, F.S. SPECIFICALLY RELATED TO EARLY VOTING; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the Florida Legislature has adopted revisions to Section 101.657 of the Florida Statutes, said section relating to Early Voting. WHEREAS, State Law allows Ocean Ridge to “opt out” of the provisions of Section 101.657, the Early Voting requirements, by adopting an ordinance stating such intent. WHEREAS, the Town Commission of the of Ocean Ridge has determined that it is in the best interests of its citizens to opt out of the early voting provisions contained in Section 101.657 F.S. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ENACTED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF OCEAN RIDGE, FLORIDA: SECTION 1: That the Town of Ocean Ridge, Florida hereby exercises its right to exempt itself from the provisions of Section 101.657 F.S. and shall not conduct early voting for Ocean Ridge municipal elections. SECTION 2: That all ordinances or parts of ordinances in conflict herewith be and the same are hereby repealed. SECTION 3: That this ordinance shall take effect immediately upon its adoption by the Town Commission of the Town of Ocean Ridge, Florida. FIRST READING this 6th day of December, 2004. SECOND AND FINAL READING this ____ day of _________, 2004. Commissioner offered the foregoing Ordinance and moved its adoption.
