I am providing you with brief updates on some of the Town’s continuing
projects and events.
Hurricane Damage

agreement for Hurricane Jeanne with the State of Florida Department of Community
Affairs (DCA). The Town has
submitted and received back from the DCA executed copies of the disaster funding
agreements for both Hurricane Frances and Jeanne.

Drainage Project –
Hudson
Avenue
Phase – This is
a progress report of the
Hudson
Avenue
roadway and drainage improvements. The
Contractor (Chaz Equipment Company) has completed one (1) of the two (2) items
left on the punch list in order to finish the project.
The last item will be completed while they are doing the work on the
Adams Road
and
David
Lane

Engineer has reviewed the as-builts and record drawings for the project and will
soon be issuing a certification of completion.
The Contractor has submitted a payment request for final payment for the
project.
Stormwater Drainage Project - South Phase

November 24, 2004
at
10:00 am
at the
Ocean
Ridge
Town Hall
, three (3) bids were
received and opened for the construction of the South Phase of the stormwater
drainage project. The three (3)
bidders were Chaz Equipment Company, Inc., Danella Company, Inc. and Murray
Logan Construction, Inc. On
December 22, 2004

Commission Meeting was held to discuss and award the bid.
At this meeting the Town Commission voted to award the bid to the low
bidder Chaz Equipment Company, Inc. in the amount of $4,189,000.00.
The award of the bid is contingent upon the approval of the bidder by the
Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) as part of the
requirements of the State Revolving Fund Loan Agreement. The Staff will be
submitting the bidder information for approval by the FDEP. Upon approval by the
FDEP the Town will sign a contract with Chaz Equipment Company, Inc. for the
South Phase of the stormwater drainage project.
The Town will also be requesting that the FDEP increase the amount of the
State Revolving Fund Loan because more funding for the project is needed.
Adams Road
and
David Lane
Improvements – The Contractor (Chaz Equipment Company)
started work on
November 15, 2004
and should be

The Contractor has maintained access for traffic on the roadway and the
ability for property owners to access their property.
The improvement project consists of installing a new road on
David Lane
, repaving
Adams Road
and installing new
drainage pipes and catch basins on both roads.
The Contractor has completed the installation of all the drainage piping
and catch basins for both
Adams Road

David Lane
and repaving of
Adams Road

total cost for the construction of the improvements on
Adams Road

David Lane
is $199,540.00.

to bid for landscape maintenance services to the Town.
The maintenance services will be performed at seventeen (17) sites
throughout the Town of Ocean Ridge. The

Meeting. The contract with the
Town’s current Landscaper, Blue Water Landscape & Lake Management has
expired and they are continuing to work on a month to month basis until a new
contractor is hired.
Public
Lands Grant Program –
In November 2004 the Town received the executed grant agreement from Palm Beach
County Department of Environmental Protection (DERM) for the Public Lands Grant
Program for Invasive Non-Native Vegetation Removal.
The agreement is for funding assistance to remove two (2) large Brazilian
Pepper trees on Town property located on the northwest corner of
Inlet
Cay Drive
and
River
Drive
. The
cost for the removal of the trees is $2,500.00 and the grant will provide the
Town with 50% of the total cost. At
the end of November 2004 the Town’s Contractor removed the trees and ground
the stumps. The staff will be
submitting a reimbursement request to DERM under the terms of the grant for
$1,250.00 which is 50% of the total cost of the tree removal.
Tropical
Drive Easements
- Staff, Town Engineer and the Town Attorney have determined that all of the
easements that are necessary for the project are in place.
There is still one (1) parcel next to old Ocean that has not been signed
but is not needed to go forward with the project.
Tree trimming on
Ocean
Avenue
-
The Town contracted with A Classy Cut to trim the 32 hardwood trees and
Sabal Palm Trees on
Ocean Avenue
. They
also removed the hardwood tree on the northeast corner, a dead Sabal Palm tree
and the stumps were ground. The
trees had extended out and had blocked most of the street lights.
We had the work done before Christmas.
Walkover Repairs-
The Town has ask Morrison Builders of Dania Beach, Fl, to give us an
estimate to repair all the Town Walkovers. Morrison
Builders are a general Contractor who has rebuilt or built new walkovers in the
Town. Staff has had an opportunity
to observe the work being done and found it to be quality work.
Hopefully we will have the estimates in before the February meeting.
(This work will be refunded by FEMA). |
