Stormwater Drainage Project - South Phase
– On
April 18, 2005
Chaz Equipment Company, Inc. (Chaz) was given the
notice to proceed to start work on the South Phase of the stormwater drainage
project. The contractor (Chaz) has
completed the clearing and
grubbing of the
Woolbright Road
detention area.
They are now starting to excavate the area on the south end of the
property for the installation of the pump station.
As they dig this area out they are finding a lot of rock.
They have completed about 80% of the de-mucking of the detention area and
have been bringing in clean fill to replace it.
Chaz had previously completed the installation of the 48” outfall pipe
from the
Ixora Way
cul-de-sac west to the
Intracoastal Waterway
. The
installation of the 48” pipe on
Ixora Way
from the cul-de-sac
east to
Midlane Road
is still being delayed.
It has been delayed because of a power pole at the end of the cul-de-sac
needs to be removed because it interferes with the installation of the 48”
pipe. Florida Power & Light and
Adelphia have completed the removal of their wires from the pole and the
relocation and installation of the new wires.
We are still waiting for Bell South to come and remove their wires from
the pole and the relocation and installation of their wires.
When this is complete the pole can be removed and the rest of the 48”
pipe installed. Chaz is in the
process of locating all the underground utilities along A-1-A from
Adams Road
to
Tropical Drive
in preparation of the
installation of the force main. According
to the agreement with the Contractor the project is to be substantially complete
in two hundred forty eighty (248) days from the notice to proceed date.
State Revolving Fund Loan
– On
June 22, 2005
a disbursement check in the amount of $175,925 for
construction for the South Phase of the stormwater drainage improvements was
received from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).
This disbursement was for construction services of $141,345 and technical
services during construction of $34,580 for a total disbursement in the amount
of $175,925. Also on
June 22, 2005
a disbursement check
in the amount of $216,846 for construction of the
David Lane
and
Adams Road
drainage and roadway
improvements was received from the FDEP. This
disbursement was for construction services of $199,339 and technical services
during construction of $17,507 for a total disbursement in the amount of
$216,846.
Town
of
Ocean
Ridge
– Information Telephone Line
- In the advent of the 2005 Hurricane Season the Town of Ocean Ridge has
implemented a new Information Telephone Line.
This telephone line will provide the residents of the Town with critical
information during a hurricane, major storm event, or other type of emergency.
Examples of the type of information available for hurricanes will be
times for evacuations, power outage updates, and when it is safe for residents
to return to Town after a storm. The
Town will update the message periodically to provide the latest information
available. This line will also be
used to announce other Town events throughout the year.
You can reach the information line at anytime by dialing the phone number
738-ORFL (738-6735).
If you have other important questions you can always reach the Ocean
Ridge Police Department at (561) 732-8331. The
Police Department will be available to answer your call as long as they have not
been evacuated from Town.
Fire
Hydrant Damage –
The Town’s contractor Line Tec, Inc. has replaced the fire hydrant on the
southeast corner of A-1-A and
Woolbright
Road
.
This fire hydrant was damaged on
May
22, 2005
when a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed
northbound on A-1-A collided with the fire hydrant and broke it off.
The cost for replacement of the fire hydrant was $4,864.00.
The Town has submitted a bill and is seeking reimbursement for the cost
of replacing the fire hydrant from the vehicle owner’s insurance company.
Other
Fire Hydrants –
There has been a repair recall on any American Darling brand fire hydrant that
was made between 1999 and 2003. The
problem is that the upper rod that controls the turning on and off of the fire
hydrant needs to be replaced. The
Town’s contractor Line Tec, Inc. identified sixteen (16) of these type fire
hydrants located in the Town of Ocean Ridge.
Line Tec, Inc. then performed the warranty repair to all sixteen (16) of
these fire hydrants at no cost to the Town.
While they were attempting to repair the fire hydrant in front of
5500 Old Ocean Blvd.
the valve that controls the water to the fire
hydrant broke and needed to be replaced. They
were able to isolate and turn off the water supply to that fire hydrant without
turning the water off to any houses so that they could replace the valve.
Also the City of Boynton Beach Utility Department was testing and broke
the fire hydrant in front
36 Spanish River Drive
. Because
of the age of the fire hydrant it could not be repaired and needs to be
replaced. The City of
Boynton Beach
has agreed to give the Town a brand new fire
hydrant at no cost. The Town will be
getting Line Tec, Inc. to install the new fire hydrant in the next couple of
weeks.
Hurricane Funding
– On
May 30, 2005
the Town received checks in the amount of $82,180.26
from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for disaster relief funding
as part of the public assistance program. These
funds were to reimburse the Town for emergency protective measures for Hurricane
Frances
.
The emergency protective measures includes costs for overtime for on duty
personnel, temporary labor, vehicle usage, generator usage, and supplies.
Also on
June 27, 2005
the Town received checks in the amount of $13,263.37
from FEMA for other disaster relief funding for Hurricane
Frances
.
These funds were to reimburse the Town for damages to the
Municipal
Building
and radio
antenna
Tower
.
This amount was for deductible portion that the Town’s insurance was
not paying for.
Town Signage – The Town’s sign contractor has
installed the
New Street
identification signs and the attached Stop
signs along A-1-A South of Woolbright Road and also on the north end of Town on
Island Drive
,
Island Drive South
,
Bonita Drive
, and
Marlin Drive
.
In the next couple of weeks they will be installing the signs on
Sabal Island Drive
,
River Drive
,
Inlet Cay Drive
,
Beachway Drive
, Beachway North,
Osprey Drive
,
Dolphin Drive
and Dolphin Bend.
This is part of the Town’s signage project to replace the rest of the
signs throughout the Town.
