Community Standards (aka Code Enforcement)

The Ocean Ridge Police Officers also serve as Community Standards Officers of the Town, working in conjunction with the Building Official to ensure a safe and pleasant scenery that is consistent with our Town Code, while striving for voluntary compliance and public awareness.

If you see an activity that you believe is against Town Code and you wish to make a complaint, we suggest making the complaint while the activity is occurring, if possible.  To file a complaint, we ask that you either email or call the dispatch center at 561-732-8331, and provide the following information:
  • Your name, address and telephone number
  • Address or parcel number of violation or some type of description of location
  • The type of violation

Note: In accordance with State law, we are unable to take anonymous requests.  Once a complaint is filed, an Officer will visit the site for an inspection. Our goal is to work with residents to reduce violations before community standards actions are necessary.  However, if a community standards action becomes necessary, a warning may be issued, a citation may be issued, or a violation notice may be issued and time will be given to the homeowner to correct the violation.  If the violation is not corrected within a certain timeframe, the homeowner will go before the Special Magistrate for a Community Standards Hearing.
