COVID-19 Update #11

COVID-19 Update #11

April 3, 2020 at 2:00 PM

The Governor’s “Safer at Home” Order is in effect.  Please remember that this is an order, not a suggestion.  The order mandates that all persons in Florida shall limit their movements and personal interactions outside of their home to only those necessary to obtain or provide essential services or conduct essential activities, such as going to the grocery store, a gas station, a bank, or to seek medical attention.  The order mandates that senior citizens and individuals with a significant underlying medical condition shall stay at home and take all measures to limit the risk of exposure to COVID-19.  Please remember, failure to comply with these orders can have a negative impact on your health, the health of our first responders, health care workers, and those required to work to take care of you.

A message from the Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw this morning states: “I want to thank the vast majority of people who have complied with the emergency orders.  Unfortunately, there are some people who have decided not to help out in these troubled times and ignore the orders.  Law enforcement is making every effort to walk softly and warn people about their responsibility (to keep themselves and others safe).  But we want to be very clear about non-compliance.  We will enforce the orders and non-compliance could result in your arrest.  It is our hope that we will not have to get to that point.  We need to take care of each other and get through this troubled time.  We are in a time where we need to act responsibly and take care of each other.  Be part of the solution, not part of the problem.  Help us protect you and your family.  Comply, don’t deny.”  Just so everyone understands, the Police Chief of Ocean Ridge stands in full agreement with the Sheriff and will continue to seek voluntary compliance, however, stands ready to take appropriate action as necessary.

Please visit the Town’s website to view instructions for attending the April 6, 2020 Town Commission meeting by teleconference.  COVID-19 updates and information from several sources are also available for review.

Remember, only you have the ability to limit your exposure in the spread of COVID-19.  Please act responsibly and stay home.
