Summary of the Regular Commission Meeting of September 7, 2021
The following is a list of actions taken at the September 7, 2021 Regular Town Commission Meeting. We hope this helps keep our residents informed in a timely fashion regarding Town Commission and Staff activities.
- Presentations:
- Newly Elected Chief of Police, Richard Jones, was sworn in by Town Clerk Armstrong.
- Announcements:
- The next Regular Town Commission Meeting will be held on Monday, October 4th at 6:00 PM. A Special Town Commission Meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 21st at 6:00 p.m. at Town Hall and will include the second and final public hearing on the proposed FY22 budget. The next Planning & Zoning Commission meeting will be held on September 20th at 8:00 AM at Town Hall.
- Please join us each month prior to the Town Commission meeting at 5:00 p.m. for the Building Official Educational Forum in the Commission Chambers at Town Hall. Details including topics to be discussed each month are on the Town’s website.
- Residents who wish to sign up to receive important Town notifications and news through Civic Ready should sign up on the Town’s website or call Town Hall for assistance.
- Approved the Consent Agenda including:
- Adopted Minutes of the Regular Town Commission Meeting of August 2, 2021.
- Adopted Minutes of the Special Town Commission Meeting of August 2, 2021.
- Accepted the Revenue & Expenditure Report for July 2021.
- Approved budgeted expenditures of $11,262.80 to Madsen-Barr for emergency potable water valve replacement at the intersection of Inlet Cay and River Drive, and $19,073.25 to Madsen-Barr for fire hydrant replacement on Eleuthera Drive.
- Approved Lien Satisfaction for 6009 N. Ocean Blvd.
- Approved Fifth Amendment to the Legal Services Agreement with Torcivia, Donlon, Goddeau & Rubin, PA
- Approved Fourth Amendment to Professional Services Agreement with Engenuity Group, Inc.
- Approved Job Description for Building Inspector Position.
- Presented the Tentative Budget for FY22 and Held a Public Hearing.
- Announced the Town of Ocean Ridge Computed Millage Rate is Higher Than the Rolled Back Rate of 1384 by 7.04%. The millage to be levied is 5.5000.
- Adopted Resolution No. 2021-15: Adoption of Tentative Millage Rate for Fiscal Year 2021/2022.
- Adopted Resolution No. 2021-16: Adoption of Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year 2021/2022.
- Announced the second/final hearing on the FY 2021/2022 Budget will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21, 2021.
- Adopted on First Reading Ordinance No. 2021-05: An Ordinance of the Town Commission of the Town of Ocean Ridge, Florida, Changing the Qualifying Period for Town Commission Candidates to Align with State & Federal Election Laws.
- Adopted Resolution 2021-07: Amending the Human Resources Policies and Procedures Employee Handbook.
- Directed the Planning & Zoning Commission to discuss possible options to replace the letter of credit relative to demolition at its September 20, 2021 meeting.
- Directed Town Manager Stevens to place an item on the October 12, 2021 agenda for the joint workshop between the Town Commission and Planning & Zoning Commission to discuss the Letter of Credit Relative to Demolition.
- Planning & Zoning Commission Member David Hutchins provided a summary of the Planning & Zoning Commission Meeting of August 16, 2021.
- Town Manager Stevens presented the Town Manager’s Report. Important information in the Town Manager’s Report may be found on the Town’s website by clicking here.
- Police Chief Jones provided the monthly Police Department Report for July 2021.
- Building Official Guy provided the monthly Building Department Report for July 2021.
- Directed Town Manager Stevens to adopt a policy that would require facial coverings for employees and the public while in the Town Hall/ Police Department complex unless socially distanced and seated.
- Discussed the Assistant Town Clerk position, and no changes were made to the position.
THE SECOND/FINAL HEARING ON THE FY 2021/2022 BUDGET WILL BE HELS AT 6:00 PM ON TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 21, 2021 AT TOWN HALL. THE NEXT REGULAR TOWN COMMISSION MEETING WILL BE HELD ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 4, 2021 AT 6:00 P.M. AT TOWN HALL.
